15 Years of Leveraging Resiliency

Ready for Life’s 15th year was one of remarkable progress and transformation, as we continued to build bridges of hope for former foster care young adults in our community. We set our sights on three major goals this past year: addressing homelessness, reaching youth before they exit foster care, and establishing our Pasco County presence. We are proud to say that with your help we have achieved all three objectives.

From opening our first satellite office in Pasco County, to securing nearly $1,000,000 through the Youth Opportunity Grants program with the City of St. Petersburg—which provides 88 young adults with a $500 monthly supplement for one year—all while extending our services to more youth under 18. We are meeting young adults where they are and walking alongside them as they define their own success stories.

For 15 years, these achievements have been made possible by champions like you who understand that resilience transforms into lasting success when supported by the right resources and relationships.

This year, we witnessed yet another powerful display of resiliency as we supported Ashley through her battle with cancer. As a single mother of two with no immediate family nearby, Ashley faced the devastating news with remarkable courage. When she reached out to Ready for Life for assistance, we immediately stepped in, providing comprehensive support—from ensuring her family’s basic needs were met to offering emotional and financial aid. And even when back-to-back hurricanes added another challenge to her cancer treatments, we stood firmly by her side. Ashley’s resilience in the face of adversity embodies the extraordinary strength we’ve witnessed in thousands of young adults over the past 15 years, reminding us that with unwavering support, there is no obstacle too great to overcome. Her story exemplifies our commitment to being there for our young adults through every storm life brings.

This year demonstrates how our community’s investment in resilience yields powerful returns: $1,043,883 in total funds raised, 347 young adults served, 4,630 services performed, and countless moments of triumph as young adults move from crisis to stability to self-sufficiency.

We need your help to continue this vital work of leveraging resiliency for the next 15 years and beyond.

Join our Heroes Society with a monthly gift of any amount, or make a one-time, tax-deductible end-of-year donation today. Your support ensures that no former foster young adult faces life’s challenges alone. Kathy Mize, CEO
