It’s that time of year again.

Ready for Life Family Time!

Gobble Gobble!

Our annual Thanksgiving Feast is planned for November 17th, and it will be a drive-thru again this year. We expect over 200 youth and young families to attend, so we are going to need a LOT of help with the preparations! Please see below for information on bringing a dish, volunteering at the drive-thru or sponsoring a meal for a youth/young family.

This dinner is so much more than a meal, what we’re up to is creating a whole new sense of belonging in the world. When we asked the young people we serve, what’s one thing you know now that you wish you’d known before aging out of the system. This was a reply that hurt our hearts to hear: “I wish someone would have told me what it would be like to spend the Holidays alone. When you’re in foster care someone has to take you. When you get out, you’re all alone.”

So, we  at RFL, (YOU included) line up beside them, and we’ve found ways to make the Holiday celebrations special too! None of the young people we serve never have to go through these special occasions without “family” ever again, and that’s because of you! We celebrate together and make sure each one of these extraordinary young people know that they are loved.

Volunteer at the Drive-Thru!

We will need a lot of helping hands on November 17. There are two shifts we need covered, morning and afternoon.

Morning Shift 10AM-2PM:

Set up the drive-thru (decorations, games, signs, etc.)

Put together the to-go meals

Afternoon Shift 2PM-6PM:

Greet the drive-thru guests

Help facilitate the drive-thru games

Hand out the to-go meals.

We’ll be socially distanced, masked, and mostly outdoors for both shifts.

Click below to sign up as a volunteer and please note your shift preference in the notes box.

Bring a Dish to Pass

We’ll need everything from whole cooked turkeys and hams, mashed potatoes, crockpots of gravy, green bean casseroles, pans of mac and cheese, rolls, as well as to-go containers, plastic silverware, napkins, and canned/bottled drinks too! When you sign up, please note if there is something that’s your specialty that you would like to bring. We will coordinate via email to make the final arrangements and answer your questions.

We will need all food fully cooked and ready to be packed into to-go containers, delivered to the RFL Skill Center by 10am on November 17th. NOTE: the food does not need to be hot. It can be refrigerated as we will be filling to-go containers that youth will microwave at home.
