Ready for Life, Inc., Pinellas County, Florida wins $25,000State Farm Neighborhood Assist® grant


Largo, FL (June 7, 2022) - In just 10 days this spring, 88,000 people cast more than 2 million votes in support of their favorite causes. As a result, 100 communities, in 34 states, including Ready for Life, will receive an assist from State Farm®. State Farm is proud to announce the Top 100 vote-getting causes that have won $25,000 grants to improve their communities.


A Check Presentation Celebration was held at the Ready for Life Skill Center in Largo on Tuesday, June 21, with Community Leaders, State Farm Agents, RFL Board and Staff. Representative Chris Latvala and District Aide Katie Blaxberg came to congratulate RFL, along with State Farm Agents Craig Duncan, Joanne Dauphin, and Doug Bishop.


“Ready for Life is thrilled to receive State Farm Neighborhood Assist, and we are grateful to our community for voting and for caring about young people aging out of foster care,” said Kathy Mize, CEO at Ready for Life. “Our tag line is ‘Changing Lives Beyond Foster Care’ and this State Farm Neighborhood Assist will certainly Change Lives.”


Ready for Life supports former foster care youth in crisis stabilization, lifeline & support services, and life skills through programs such as emergency food and supplies; housing assistance; health navigation and mental, physical, and dental wellness; tutoring and job coaching; financial literacy; and an incredibly impactful mentoring program. Four thousand cause submissions were accepted in February at www.neighborhoodassist.com. The State Farm Review Committee selected the Top 200 finalists and public voting determined the Top 100. In the eleven years of the program, nearly 500 causes have received a total of $12.5 million to enact change in their communities.
