Art Therapy: Calming Bottles

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

  • One empty plastic 16.9 oz. water bottle, label removed

  • 1 teaspoon glitter (fine and chunky) and sequins using a variety of shapes, colors and sizes

  • 2 tablespoons gel beads

  • Clear liquid glue

  1. Fill the bottle with water approximately 2/3 of the way full. You can also add a few drops of food coloring, if you have it, to add color to the water. After you add food coloring shake the bottle to mix the color into the water.

  2. Pour the glitter and sequins into the bottle and then add the gel beads.

  3. Add clear liquid glue to fill the rest of the bottle.

  4. Carefully screw the cap back on the bottle making sure it is tight. If you have some super glue you can also glue the lid to the bottle to be extra sure it will not come off.

  5. Shake or tip the bottle back and forth to watch the glitter, sequins and beads move back and forth in the bottle. Repeat as needed to distract or soothe yourself.

I hope you enjoy moments of peace while using your calming bottle!!!
